The historic centre of Bratislava is ideal for pleasant walks in the old streets lined with cafés; from each of the palaces you can feel the history of this ancient city. Our guides will tell you the secrets of these exceptional sites.
Your tour begins at the monumental building of the Slovak National Theatre. Along the way, on the extensive promenade you can refresh yourself with a delicious ice cream in summer and in the winter you warm up with hriatô - a hot punch. At the end of the promenade you will get to the Gothic St. Martin's Cathedral - the most famous sacral building in Bratislava.
In the walking tour we included all Bratislava´s "Must", which you have to see, like the oldest Slovak University, the narrowest house, the oldest church and one of the most popular city sights – St. Michael's Gate. Of course you won´t miss the Main Square, Primate's Palace and other surprises that will make the walking tour an unforgettable experience.
You will be able to take pictures of the beautiful Main Square with the Roland fountain, which in fact does not show the famous Breton knight. We will let you know the fantastic legends and events connected with this important urban fountain.
The Main Square is dominated by the charming Old Town Hall. The walls of the town hall bear witness to the turbulent history of the city. Today it is possible to see a cannon ball from the time of the Napoleonic wars. You will learn how the statue of the Virgin Mary couldn’t deal with the dirt, and the story of the indestructible portrait on the facade of the town hall.
On the wall of Old Town Hall you can find a face of a man who perjured. He said that if he is lying, the devil can take him. And so it was, the devil appeared and carried him to hell. Before taking him the devil imprinted his face on the wall as warning.
